ABSTRACT

[ ABSTRACT] AIM:To investigate the effects of paeoniflorin ( Pae) on the functional responses induced by acute hypoxic insult in the rat cerebellar Purkinje cells ( PCs) .METHODS:The whole-cell patch clamp was used for the intra-cellular recording of PCs in the rat cerebellar slices to evaluate the changes of membrane potential, the excitability of PCs, and the parallel fibre ( PF)-PC excitatory postsynaptic currents ( EPSCs) upon acute hypoxic insult alone or with the pre-sence of Pae.RESULTS:PCs showed an initial hyperpolarization followed by brief depolarization and long lasting post-hy-poxia hyperpolarization after hypoxia exposure.Pae completely blocked hypoxia-induced hyperpolarization and decreased the amplitude and the duration of hypoxic depolarization.Hypoxia up-regulated the excitability of rat PCs.Pae didn’t show any significant effect on the hypoxia-induced hyperexcitability in PCs.Acute hypoxia induced long-term depression ( LTD) in rat cerebellar PF-PC EPSCs, and Pae partially reversed hypoxia-induced depression in PF-PC EPSCs.CONCLUSION:Pae significantly suppresses hypoxia-induced responses in rat PCs and probably increases the tolerance of rat PCs to acute hypoxia.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Microleakage between restoration, tooth structure and bonding agent can cause the entry of bacteria and liquid in the mouth into the gap, thereby damaging the bonding interface between the restoration and tooth tissues, and leading to bond failure. Microleakage detection can directly show whether the closure of the root canal of post and core system is good or bad. The severity of microleakage directly affects the restorative effects of post and core. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of different root canal cleaning methods on the microleakage between the fiber post and root canal dentin. METHODS: Thirty fresh non-caries premolar posts with free root canalin vitro were randomly divided into five groups, and the root canal wal was respectively washed with saline, 5.25% sodium hypochlorite solution+17% ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA)+saline, 3% hydrogen peroxide solution+5.25% sodium hypochlorite+ saline, 3% hydrogen peroxide solution+2% chlorhexidine solution+saline, and 2% chlorhexidine solution+17% EDTA+saline in different groups. Super-bond C&B adhesive agent was used for bonding fiber post, and the microleakage of each sample was observed under stereomicroscope. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The severity of microleakage in the al groups was ranged as folows: saline group > 3% hydrogen peroxide solution+5.25% sodium hypochlorite+saline group > 5.25% sodium hypochlorite solution+17% EDTA+saline and 3% hydrogen peroxide solution+2% chlorhexidine solution+saline groups > 2% chlorhexidine solution+17% EDTA+saline group.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe and evaluate the changes in plasma C3a and C5a concentration after injecting protamine via two different pathways:ascending aorta and superior vena cava. Methods Sixty children with age under 1-year-old who underwent cardiopulmonary bypass were randomly divided into two groups:experimental group(injecting protamine via ascending aorta,n =30)and control group(injecting protamine viasuperior vena cava,n =30;).The plasma concentration of C3a and C5a were measured by ELISA at prior to protamine injected(Time 1)and 1 hour after the protamine injected(Time 2).Results In experimental group, there was no statistical difference on C3a and C5a concentration before and after injection of protamine[C3a:(18.762±3.792) μg/L vs(19.554±3.453) μg/L,t =-0.846,P =0.20; C5a:(0.843±0.159) μg/L vs (0.825±0.119) μg/L,t =0.496,P =0.31].In control group,C3 a concentration increased from(18.780±3.864) μg/L to(22.961±3.501) g/L,C5a concentration increased from(0.839±0.157) μg/L to(0.979±0.116)μg/L after injection of protamine, and the differences were significant(t =-4.392,-3.928,respectively,P <0.01).The level of C3a concentration in experimental group was significantly higher than that in control group[(19.554±3.453) μg/L vs.(22.961±3.501) μμg/L,ι =3.795,P < 0.01]after injection of protamine for 1 h and the level of C5a concentration exhibited the same change[(0.825±0.119) μg/L vs.(0.979±0.116)μg/L,t =-5.075,P <0.01].Conclusion The levels of C3a and C5a concentration of infants underwent cardiopulmonary bypass are decreased significantly after protamine injected via ascending aorta compated with via superior vena cava.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To study the distribution and drug resistance of the cancer patient′s pathogenic bacteria.METHODS The clinical nosocomial infection of 1451 cancer patients was analyzed by using the soft WHONET-5.RESULTS Of 955 strains isolated from sputa, the G-bacilli were 31.2%,and their main bacteria were Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiell pneumoniae, the G+ coccis were 31.2%,and their main bacteria were Staphylococcus epidermidis, and the fungi were 43.3%,and their main molds were Candida.albicans.Of 284 strains isolated form stool, the G-bacilli were 64.4%,and their main bacteria were Eschericha coli, the G+ cocci were 10.2% and their main bacteria were S.epidermidis, and fungi were 25.5%.Of 72 strains isolated from blood, the G-bacilli were 62.5%,and their main bacteria were E.coli, the G+ cocci were 30.5% and the fungi were 7.0%.Of 140 strains isolated from pharyngeal swab, the G-bacilli were 15.0%,and the G+ cocci were 43.0% and the fungi were 42.0%.The results of sensitivity tests showed as followed: The G-bacilli had a highly sensitive to imipenem, and had a high drug resistance against the first and second generation cephalosporin, ampicillin, piperacillin. The G+ cocci were highly sensitive to vancomycin and had a high drug resistance against oxacillin, penicillin, and erythromycio, the fungi had an obvious drug resistance against azoles.CONCLUSIONS It is high prevalence of ESBLs among MRS,and Staphylococcus. The application and selection of antibiotics must be based on the results of sensitivity tests, and the drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria must be controlled.
